Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour - to which he was elected a member in
1999.David Jackson writing in the catalogue for a recent solo exhibition by Chris Bushe at
the Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh said (with acknowledgments)....."Many of his
paintings seek to render the texture and weight of the Mediterranean landscape as
remembered by the artist...but Chris Bushe brings back to his studio from the
Mediterranean more than snap-shot memories. There is a secret fragrance to his paintings,
an unashamed beauty, hungry for space and the beating of wings. They are alive, refusing
to be closed in, open to possibilities, One only has to look and they reward with a
landscape full of sensual riches" |
