Michael Hyam was born in London in 1958. He graduated in
Graphic Design at Newcatle in 1986 and worked for several years as an art tutor at
Loughton College. During the early nineties his work was regularly selected for
mixed exhibitions at the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Institute and the Royal
Society of Portrait Painters . In 1992 he won the Daler-Rowney Award for Oustanding Work
and in 1993 was elected an associate member of the RBA. In 1994 he had his first one-man
show at Waterman Fine Art. While he has continued to paint outstanding still lifes his
portraits have attracted increasing attention and he has been commissioned over the last
few years to paint portraits of Sir Frank Rogers, Peter Ridell (of The Times) and Sir
Phillip Naylor-Leyland. He has recently had a highly successful one-man show at the Adam
Gallery in Bath. |
