Paul
Millichip was born in Harrow in 1929. He trained at Harrow, Leeds and
Brighton Colleges of Art. He was a teacher for many years including a period
at Stowe School. He has always enjoyed teaching Adult courses and his own
Barn Studio still organises courses abroad. Recently he has taken students
to Goa, Morocco and Greece. Paul has published a number of books including
The Travelling Painter and Painting Light and Shade (both published by BT
Batsford).
He has exhibited widely and has had one-man shows at Gallery One, Richard
Allan and Anthony Dawson as well as here at The Manor House Gallery. He has
exhibited regularly at the Royal Watercolour Society Open Exhinition and won
the Jeffrey Archer Award in 1990 and the Chris Beetles Award in 1992. Paul
was one of the very first painters who showed with us nearly 20 years ago
and has become a very good friend over the years. We are excited that he
continues to experiment and push the boundaries of his techniques into new
areas. His latest series of works are fresh and challenging - exploring new
ways of expressing the relationship and dynamics of objects in their
surroundings. |
